St. Andrew’s Brockley is a proud to have been awarded
an Eco-Church Silver Award
Caring for God’s Creation has become even more important than it ever has been.
Climate change is making life harder locally and internationally.
As a church we are doing our best to make decisions which are responsible and help the environment.
some things we do As a church
In our grounds, we nurture nature friendly planting and are working with the children’s nursery that operates on our grounds to encourage the children to grow herbs and vegetables.
Inside the church, we avoid using single use disposables (especially plastics), use eco-friendly cleaning products, recycle, separate food waste, have installed low energy LED lighting wherever it’s possible to (both internally and externally), use minimal paper (and recycle what we do use), ethically invest, and ensure our utilities are on eco-friendly tariffs.
Wherever possible, we purchase Fair Trade and environmentally-responsible products
We encourage people to share transport or use public transport wherever possible when coming to the church and have installed a bike rack in the car park area.
In worship, talk about God’s creation, we pray for the world, focus on the environment and with the global church, celebrate the Season of Creation.
The church is working hard towards a goal of becoming net-carbon-zero by 2040.
What can you do?
Live by the ‘reuse-reduce-recycle’ principle and limit using single use items whereve you can.
Conduct an environmental lifestyle audit to determine your personal carbon footprint.
Consider your personal energy use and ways to reduce it.
